After flying for 16 hours, I have finally arrived in the land of kilts, bagpipes, whiskey, green, and rain. They also speak english here, but it is so different and difficult to understand.
My flights here were pretty great. On all of my flights I had the entire row to myself. It was a dream come true. Even though I did not sleep at all during either flight, I caught up on some pretty great movies and re-watched the first two Harry Potter movies. IcelandAir has the coolest service ever. During the flight, the lights that were on mirrored the aurora borealis and I thought it was really neat. They also have really good food and cool packaging. I definitely want to visit Iceland during my time in Europe.
When I got to my flat, I was the only person here. I should have four other roommates but so far I have only met a girl from Canada, and another girl from Denmark. The roommate from Denmark made me dinner since I forgot to eat and jet lag made me take an accidental 3-hour nap. She is really cool and I am excited to see who else lives in this building.
Orientation starts tomorrow, so I have to be up at 8am to make the trek to the event. I also need to find time tomorrow to go buy blankets, pillows, and other necessities. I wonder what tomorrow will hold and hopefully I will make some new friends.
Until next time,
-L
